Demand Justice for A20 Motorists
Thousands of motorists have been unjustly prosecuted due to Transport for London’s (TfL) failure to comply with legal procedures and dangerous traffic sign placements related to the A20 Sidcup By-pass temporary speed limit.
We demand immediate action to investigate this ongoing crisis and hold TfL accountable for violating public rights, endangering lives, and undermining the rule of law.
Violations include:
- Unsafe Signage: Signs on the A20 were inadequate and hazardous, endangering drivers and causing confusion.
- Excessive Enforcement: Over 100,000 motorists were prosecuted under dubious circumstances, with fines and penalties devastating families and livelihoods.
- Failure to Follow Laws: TfL failed to issue legally required notices and provide public access to records, violating the 2014 Openness Regulations and 1992 Temporary Restrictions Regulations.
- Unethical Motives: The Metropolitan Police have stated that they have a clear goal to prosecute drivers. With the Mayor of London governing both TfL and the Metropolitan Police, there is a serious conflict of interest so independent investigation is critical.
Key Demands:
- Prosecute TfL Officials: Investigate and prosecute those responsible for criminal breaches of transparency and procedural laws.
- Invalidate Illegal Traffic Orders: Declare Traffic Order 0062 void due to non-compliance with legal requirements.
- Compensate Impacted Motorists: Provide justice and compensation to the thousands of drivers wrongfully fined.
- Reform TfL Practices: Ensure TfL complies with legal transparency and safety standards.
- Independent Oversight: Place TfL under special measures to prevent future abuses.
By signing this petition, you are joining the demand for justice for motorists, accountability for TfL, and reforms to prevent future abuses. Together, we can ensure public organisations uphold their legal and moral duties.
